Lesson from the first letter of St John the Apostle
1 John 3:10-16
Most dearly beloved, whosoever is not just, is not of God, nor he that loveth not his brother. For this is the declaration, which you have heard from the beginning, that you should love one another. Not as Cain, who was of the wicked one, and killed his brother. And wherefore did he kill him? Because his own works were wicked, and his brother’s just. Wonder not, brethren, if the world hates you. We know that we have passed from death to life: because we love the brethren. He that loveth not, abideth in death. Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer. And you know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in himself. In this we have known the charity of God, because He hath laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
Léctio Epístolæ beáti Joánnis Apóstoli
1 Joann 3:10-16
Ps 8:6-7
You crowned him with glory and honor.
℣. You have given him rule over the works of Your hands, O Lord. Alleluia, alleluia.
℣. This is the priest whom the Lord has crowned. Alleluia.
Ps 8:6-7
Glória et honóre coronásti eum.
℣. Et constituísti eum super ópera mánuum tuárum, Dómine. Allelúja, allelúja.
℣. Hic est Sacérdos, quem coronávit Dóminus. Allelúja.
Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
Matt 10:26-32.
At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, and nothing hidden that will not be made known. What I tell you in darkness, speak it in the light; and what you hear whispered, preach it on the housetops. And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather be afraid of Him Who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father’s leave. But as for you, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows. Therefore, everyone who acknowledges Me before men, I also will acknowledge him before My Father in heaven.
Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthǽum
Matt 10:26-32
Ps 88:21-22
I have found David, My servant; with My holy oil I have anointed him, that My hand may be always with him, and that My arm may make him strong. (Allelúja.)
Ps 88:21-22
Invéni David servum meum, óleo sancto meo unxi eum: manus enim mea auxiliábitur ei, et bráchium meum confortábit eum. (Allelúja.)

Common
It is truly meet and just, and profitable unto salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to Thee, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, eternal God, through Christ, our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominions adore it, the Powers are in awe. Which the heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed Seraphim joyfully do magnify. And do Thou command that it be permitted us to join with them in confessing Thee, while we say with lowly praise:
Communis
Ps 20:4
You placed on his head, O Lord, a crown of pure gold.
Ps 20:4
Posuísti, Dómine, in cápite ejus corónam de lápide pretióso. (Allelúja.)
May this Communion, O Lord, cleanse us of sin, and through the intercession of blessed Polycarp, Your Martyr and Bishop, may it make us sharers of heavenly healing.
Through our Lord…
